Lack of prison patents

Whenever I go to visit my father back East, I stare into the window of the Maine State Prison Showroom where everything is handmade by inmates. There are bird houses and small wooden toys but the most impressive construction sits in the window. It is a life size hand carved wooden motorcycle with a man and woman sitting on top with stone faced expressions...
Every detail is honored on the bike down to the creases of the tires. Unfortunately I could not get a proper picture. I believe that when you are in prison you cannot get a patent so they discourage pictures for the inmates creative protection...
