A fabled Vincent Black Shadow, hand-built and produced by Vincent HRD in January 1951, has found it's way to the Falcon Motorcycles workshop in December 2009, ready to become the "Black Falcon"...

Capable of 125 mph (201 km/h), the Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle was introduced by HRD in 1948, as the sportier version of the Rapide. It featured many new innovations and technologies, such as the "Stressed Frame" design (the engine is suspended from above and becomes an intergral part of the frame strcuture instead of being cradled in between the frame rails), and "Girdraulic" front forks, which are girder forks with hydraulic damping.

After searching for a potential 'donor' candidate for the Black Falcon, we found ourselves visiting a racer called "Sonny" in San Francisco, who had owned this particular Vincent, sitting in boxes around his barn for over 33 years.

Ian Barry mocked up the parts and pieces of the basket case, so that it could be visisted by it's new owner, who met it for the first time on Sunday.

We aim to complete the fabrication of the next and final Falcon custom Triumph build, the Kestral Falcon, by the end of January 2010, at which point we will be going full steam ahead on design and fabrication of the Vincent.
